About our disciplinary focus
We are interested in stem cell and developmental biology – an exciting field with inter-related concepts. Stem cells are the building blocks of the human body and are critical for maintaining homeostasis and normal physiological functions. They can differentiate into various cell types, and thus have the ability to renew the cells of our tissues, organs, and blood. Developmental biology focuses on organism growth and development through morphogenesis and tissue patterning, which involves stem cells. Ultimately, the knowledge gained from understanding these cellular and molecular mechanisms can be translated for innovations in wound repair and regenerative medicine.
